Tibetan Spaniels - Appearance

The breed is characterized by a small compact body with a slightly curled tail. The Tibetan Spaniel resembles the Pekingese, yet has some distinct features. Unlike the Pekingese, the Tibetan Spaniel has a longer muzzle and its coat is not as dense. Also, there is no extra skin around the eyes. Tibetan Spaniels carry themselves with dignity and respect. These self-confident dogs move lightly. The hind legs are hare-like. The coat comes in gold, cream, red, fawn, white, black, and other colors. The ears are feathered, while the coat on the rest of the body is flat and silky.

Tibetan Spaniels - Breed Needs

Tibetan Spaniels are not hard to own. They are suited for apartment living due to their small size and low exercise needs. The dog is OK with a few brisk walks a day. As for feeding requirements, the Tibetan Spaniel does not need much food. Breeders and owners prefer to feed their adult dogs two small meals a day. Usually, it is just a cup of dry dog food. One meal a day will also do. The number of meals depends on the living conditions of the dog and its activities. The Tibetan Spaniel does not need much grooming. These dogs are average shedders. In warm climates, the Tibetan Spaniel frequently blows its coat in the first summer. Tibetan Spaniels are natural dogs. They do not require any trimming.
